To raise the social and educational standard of living of the backward classes and for their upliftment, the social justice and special assistance department of the government is doing various schemes and activities through the social welfare department of the zilla parishad. Also, according to the policy orders of the government, zilla parishads should spend at least 20% of their income on the welfare schemes of the backward classes. Social welfare committee does.
