Basic Functions of Zilla Parishad:

• Planning and Implementation of Development Programs
  • Preparation of District Plans: Zilla Parishad prepares and implements the district’s annual and five-year development plans, focusing on sectors like agriculture, education, infrastructure, health, etc
  • Coordination of Schemes: Implement both state and central government schemes aimed at rural and urban development, including poverty alleviation, health services, and employment programs.
• Health and Family Welfare
  • Healthcare Facilities: Develop and maintain hospitals, health centers, and sub-centers, and implement health schemes like vaccination, family planning, and maternal and child health programs
  • Disease Control Programs: Undertake initiatives to control and prevent epidemics like malaria, dengue, and other communicable diseases.
• Social Welfare
  • Women and Child Welfare: Implement schemes for women’s empowerment, child protection, and nutritional support
  • Social Security Schemes: Implement social welfare schemes like old-age pensions, disability assistance, and other safety nets for vulnerable populations.
